idea and script for CCR #2

idea

non-visual podcast  answering CCR questions #1 and #2

script

ANDREA: hello everybody! welcome back to my podcast Frame By Frame. Now, today we have an exciting new guest, the director from the new film Crimson Envy, Miranda Matos.

MIRANDA: Hi, thankyou for having me I’m so excited to be here

ANDREA: of course, i’m super excited for you to be here also. now, i just have a couple of questions to ask you about your new film Crimson Envy.

MIRANDA: okay perfect!

ANDREA: okay first question, how does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

MIRANDA: My product challenges conventions since a male is shown cooking alongside a female. Traditionally, cooking was a gendered task predominantly done by women, or at least expected to. It was odd or unusual for a man to cook, especially while living with a woman. This gender norm was set decades ago and is enforced by the patriarchy. In my film opening, the male character is shown cooking breakfast with the female character, his girlfriend. This successfully challenges the gender norm that only women belong in the kitchen by portraying a man completing a task generally done by the opposite gender.

Another example of this is when the character of Sofia drops and egg right when the doorbell rings. As a result of someone being at the door, Sofia was not able to clean up the cracked egg on the floor. Since Sofia is going to open the door, she asks Luke to clean up the cracked egg instead. He does so without hesitation which depicts how Luke could be characterized as a new man. A new man is a male who rejects traditional gendered roles and takes part in domestic activities, such as cooking or cleaning, which was not done traditionally. I feel like this film successfully represents the new man since it is something that has recently been adapted into modern society and this product takes place in present time.

ANDREA: wow that’s so interesting!

MIRANDA: yeah, we felt that it was important to intrigante a more recent adaptation of society since this film. takes place in present time.

ANDREA: wow that’s great! okay last question of the day, How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

MIRANDA: This film engages with audiences through suspense, social media engagement, and empathy. While building suspense within the film, audiences become more attached and inclined to watch the film all the way to the end. Empathy for the characters causes the audience to become somewhat emotionally connected to the characters, causing them to be more invested in their character development throughout the film and the plot. Social media engagement, like behind the scenes clips or blooper reels, posted on social media websites attract audiences since they feel a personal connection to the film and characters. Seeing the process of filming and raw footage may demonstrates the hard work that was put into creating the film, inclining them to watch it.

Considering my product is a made-at-home film, to realistically distribute it to larger audiences, I would submit it to Miami Film Festival.

I would only do this after posting it on YouTube and promoting it on my personal social media accounts. The film would not be known enough to have its own social media accounts, and if one was made, it would not have many followers and it would not be effective marketing.
If I promote the film on my personal social media accounts on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebok by posting the link to the YouTube video or short behind the scenes clips of the production process, most likely, my friends and family who already follow my personal accounts will watch it and maybe repost the link to their social media accounts causing it to reach a broader audience and gaining more recognition

ANDREA: well, that brings us to the end of this episode of Frame By Frame, thank you so much Miranda for coming and joining us today

MIRANDA: of course it was a pleasure, thank you so much for having me.

editing CCR video #1

Editing this video was fairly easy as compared to all the others. The filming process was extremely quick considering I had the script pre-written and my actors, including myself, had the lines previously learnt. In contrast to most of my other projects, this video was edited through Capcut. Capcut was very user-friendly and definitely perfect for a video like this one. This is because the video did not require any advanced editing techniques or special effects and was somewhat simplistic.

In order to film this video, I had to go to target to purchase the actual board game. After doing so, I took a white piece of printer paper and slid it into the game so the faces of the people were not visible. Instead of faces, we wrote movie titles in the squares. The purpose for this was to attempt to guess the movie instead of the person, adjusted to match the CCR questions I was aiming to answer. Each question that my actors asked, was related to my film opening and whether the answer was yes or no is accurate to my project.

I believe this idea took a creative approach to answering CCR questions 3 and 4. This idea came to me because I was in class, thinking about how much fun I was going to have with my older cousins when they came to visit. While trying to think about different activities we could do together, I was going through some fun board games we could play while watching a movie. The Guess Who came to mind. I don’t quite remember how I connected the dots to filming a video with it but I believe it is a creative way of executing it.

CCR question 4

How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?

This question made me reflect back on my entire process. While I was trying to think of all the different technologies, softwares, hardwares, and online platforms that were utilized in the production of this project, I realized there were many of them. While actually doing the project, one does not realize the amount of different resources that are utilized to complete the task. In this project, there were a large variety of technologies, softwares, hardwares, and online platforms that were put to use.

These are:
- Smart phone camera - film
- Digital camera - take pictures of character
- Computer - blog, script while filming, editing, research
- House light - lighting
- Mini microphones - microphones
- Adobe Premiere Pro - editing
- Microsoft word
- Blogger
- Canvas
- Whatsapp - transferring videos from phone to computer

These are the specific house light, camera, and microphones I used.
